The Postcard Project – Wāhine toa
On September 19, 1893, Aotearoa New Zealand became the first country in the world to give women the right to vote in parliamentary elections.
in 2018, New Zealand celebrated that significant 125-year anniversary and to commemorate it, the New Zealand Herald has published a special issue of Canvasmagazine, dedicated to its anniversary in which Annette was invited to take part.
Annette’s Postcard to NZ Women:
“ We have led the way for women in the world since 1893… We Gave women a voice!
Today our girls are suffering serious issues - anorexia, drugs, lack of self-esteem. We need to stand together … arm in arm and support our girls!
If all girls were taught how to love each other firefly instead of how to compete and hate their bodies … Imagine.”
